Key findings about Microsoft Dynamics 365 from the Nigel Frank Microsoft Dynamics Salary Survey 2020-21

Nigel Frank International is a global leader in Microsoft technology recruitment. Their 12th annual Microsoft Dynamics Salary Survey is now available for download. We’ve summarized the key findings of the survey below.

This report spotlights the skills, motivations, and sentiments of Dynamics professionals in the global partner, ISV and customer communities, and benchmarks the latest salaries and benefits across a range of Dynamics roles.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 was first released in late 2016, and has seen a huge upsurge in adoption by new customers since then. Existing Dynamics users are switching over to the new 365 platform.

Microsoft’s Power Platform is also growing exponentially: about 41% of respondents of this survey are currently using it to build business apps, and 50% are using Flow to integrate services and create custom workflows.

Key Findings:

The survey addressed multiple issues and aspects of software professionals working with Microsoft Dynamics 365. Here are the key findings from the survey:

  • 65% of Microsoft Dynamics professionals are satisfied in their current role.
    This implies that the work satisfaction levels of Microsoft Dynamics users are high. Work satisfaction is correlated with higher levels of skill and good pay packages. This is a positive indicator for the success of the MS Dynamics stack.
  • 66% of professionals with certifications had those paid for in full by their employer.
    This finding indicates the impact of certifications at the organizational level. Companies are investing in training their employees and reaping the benefits of higher skill and work satisfaction.
  • Most in-demand MS Dynamics product with partner clients is MS Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations (43%), next is MS Dynamics CRM (29%) and MS Dynamics 365 Business Central (26%). Most in-demand MS product with partner clients is Microsoft Power BI: 28%
  • Most commonly used Dynamics products are Microsoft Dynamics AX (48%) and Microsoft Dynamics CRM (44%).
  • 28% of professionals with a certification experienced a pay rise after successfully completing their training with an average raise of 22%.

The survey also asked a separate group of respondents who were NOT current users of MS Dynamics and asked them about these prospective users about their plan to adopt the Dynamics 365 stack in future.

Here are the findings:

  • 61% of prospective users said they plan to use it in the next 5 months
  • 26% said they plan to use it in 6 to 12 months’ time.

The top 10 Microsoft Dynamics products they intend on using in the future include:

  • 52% planned to use Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • 39% planned to use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales
  • 30% planned to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV
